It’s good to be a judge in Michigan. It comes with lots of “Get Out Of Jail Free” cards especially when you decide to get drunk and beat your wife. Just ask 58th District Court Judge Bradley Knoll.

Muskegon County Judge Geoffrey Nolan gave the speedballing boozer Knoll a finger wagging and token punishment for getting drunk and slapping his wife around back in December.

Nolan sentenced Knoll to four months probation and anger management classes. It appears Knoll may have used his position as a judge to influence prosecutors to give him reduced charges.

The sentencing hearing took place  on March 26,2024 in Muskegon County’s 60th District Court. Knoll’s punishment allegedly followed Michigan’s Spousal Abuse Act. This means if Knoll finishes his probation successfully, the charge will be removed from his record.

Knoll has been on the bench working as usual since the December incident.

After the ruling, Judge Knoll told the Grand Haven Tribune:

“I would simply say that no person is above the law. I deeply regret my involvement in the incident … particularly that it took place in the presence of my grandson. The disposition by Judge Nolan was appropriate and await any action by the Judicial Tenure Commission.”

Court records show the Grand Haven Public Safety arrested 58th District Court Chief Judge Bradley Knoll on December 13, 2023. Police charged him with one count of misdemeanor domestic violence for assaulting his wife.

It’s an open secret in Ottawa County that Knoll has a long history of cocaine and alcohol abuse. In addition, he also has a reputation of being the “Sower of Ottawa.”

Local women say Knoll likes to cheat on his wife. He also likes to entice local women with cocaine and top shelf booze. Then ask them if they would like to “bang his gavel.”

The arrest of Knoll and his addiction issues open up serious ethics issues for the court. Namely, was he high or drunk when he was presiding over cases?

These matters are now up to the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission.
