FHFA Director Bill Pulte’s Parents Busted In Homestead Tax Fraud Scheme. Mark Pulte And his Wife Claimed Homestead Exemption On Two Properties.
FHFA Chairman Bill Pulte is in hot water. He has accused a Federal Reserve governor of improperly claiming primary residence on two properties. Now it appears his parents have been doing the same thing for years.Meet Mark and Julie Pulte. They are the father and stepmother of Bill Pulte, Pulte Junior is the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Since 2020 the senior Pultes have claimed “homestead tax exemptions” for residences in wealthy neighborhoods in both Michigan and Florida. The exemption is to give a discount to homeowners on taxes for properties they use as their primary residence.
Tax officials say homeowners can not claim more than one home as a primary residence. As a result, the Pultes could be slapped with fines or back taxes. Reuters contacted tax officials in Bloomfield Township, Michigan, to inquire about the dual claims. Township officials said the township “as of today” would revoke the exemption on the Pultes’ residence there.
According to public real estate records, the Pultes are renting out the Michigan property. A move that also violates rules for the exemption.
Township officials said:
Palm Beach County officials say the Pulte’s exemption claim in Florida is older. Therefore, Palm Beach County said that any conflict with the second exemption would need to be addressed in Michigan.
FHFA Director Bill Pulte’s Parents Are Doing Far Worse Than Lisa Cook

Bill Pulte’s accusations against Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook mirror what his parents are doing. Trump has been trying to use Pulte’s accusation to remove Cook from the Fed but has so far been unsuccessful. Pulte referred the matter to the attorney general, prompting a probe of Cook by the Justice Department.
In addition to that formal action against Cook, Pulte has made multiple public statements attacking her. He has also accused her of defrauding mortgage lenders and the public. “Financial fraud is a big deal,” Pulte wrote last weekend on X to his three million followers. “Financial fraud is a big deal. Don’t do it!”
He also criticized Cook for renting out one of the homes that she claims as a primary residence. Pulte stated:
Cook has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
Oakland County shows no mortgage records exist for the Michigan and Florida properties. This suggests the Pultes likely paid cash for the homes.
The Pultes Have Saved $158,000 In Taxes Alone On The Ritzy Boca Raton Home

Palm Beach County says the Pultes saved an estimated $158,000 in property taxes on the Boca Raton property. The county granted an additional exemption on the property because the house because it surpasses a certain value threshold.
The Pultes bought the Boca Raton house in 2016 for $4.25 million. They later transferred title to a trust. Both Pultes are also listed as beneficiaries to the trust. Mark Pulte filed the exemption request.
The Pultes purchased the Michigan property for nearly $1 million in 2020. County records show both spouses are beneficiaries of a trust that owns the house. Julie Pulte claimed the exemption there.
It appears the Pultes owe Oakland County nearly $125,000 in back taxes.
