Fraud On The Court Is A Pandemic In Michigan Courtrooms

The Michigan Supreme Court Has Ignored The Pandemic Of Fraud On Court Plaguing Michigan Courtrooms. Now, A Michigan Senator Is Taking A Stand!

Michigan State Senator Jim Runestad

Michigan State Senator Jim Runestad announced he has sent a formal letter to the Supreme Court Administrative Office (SCAO). Runestad is demanding immediate policy changes to address the pandemic of fraud on the court going on throughout Michigan courtrooms.

Senator Runestad wrote that Michigan litigants are being denied their constitutional right to confront fraud in our courtrooms.  The White Lake Republican also says there is no clear procedure to investigate claims of fraud on the court. Judges ases move forward as if nothing happened and honest parties are left without recourse.

Senator Runestad finds this unacceptable:

“The current system is a betrayal of justice and judicial integrity. Parties deserve a fair process to present evidence when they believe the court has been deceived. Our courts should be bastions of truth, not venues where fraud allegations are swept under the rug because there’s no procedure to address them.”

Runestad formally requested that the SCOA adopt a new internal policy. He is proposing for courts to stay proceedings when fraud is alleged. Then mandate evidentiary hearings on any issues of fraud. Evidentiary hearings are used so courts can make proper findings of fact. Anyone involved in litigation understands the

Runestad’s proposal isn’t radical. It’s common sense. Anyone who deals with the courts will tell you his proposal is about basic due process.

MFI-Miami agrees with Senator Runstad. The SCAO has the authority to fix this problem immediately through administrative action. He is also handling it the right way. He’s giving them the opportunity to do the right thing before he pursues solutions through the legislature.

After all, justice delayed is justice denied and Senator Runestad says, “Michigan litigants deserve better.”
