Gold Medalist Oksana Baiul Forced To Put Louisiana Home On The Market After Filing For Divorce

Olympic gold medalist Oksana Baiul has announced she is putting her Louisiana home up for sale. Baiul states she can’t make a living in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The Ukrainian skater won a gold medal in 1994 at just 16 years of age. She has been living in a luxurious $1.195 million mansion since 2022.

However, she shared on her Facebook page late last month that she was moving back to Las Vegas. 

She states:

“I can’t make a living in Shreveport. Unfortunately I can’t. I do love all the people here. I came for a reason, and it did not happen. I came here to create some things, but they did not come to fruition I have to go where the ice exists.”

In a video posted to Facebook, Baiul also called the home the most beautiful mansion in all of Shreveport.

She had relocated to Louisiana in the hope of setting up a figure skating school there. However, her plans never came to fruition.

WKRG reports that Baiul will work under the Las Vegas Golden Knights umbrella. The NHL franchise has two training facilities with four total ice rinks. The Golden Knights use the ice rinks for hockey practice and figure skating.

The real estate listing of the property states the current owner spared no expense to painstakingly restore the mansion.

The Impressive Mansion

The opulent red brick Georgian Italianate mansion spans 6,000 square feet and boasts five bedrooms and five bathrooms. It also has a sunroom and library. 

The 1925 mansion exudes the grandeur of the Gilded and New Ages.

The house is fitted with marble fireplaces and original chandeliers and sconces. It also has a Virginia blue slate roof. 

Every bedroom in the mansion offers luxury with cedar built-out closets. The primary suite includes an ensuite bathroom and connected nursery. 

The oversized eat-in kitchen offers a pantry and a butler’s pantry with a commercial grade gas stove. It also has abundant storage and cabinets and silver closet.

It is also home to a floating spiral staircase.

Meanwhile, the expansive parklike gardens are perfect for families thanks to the two custom-built treehouses with a drawbridge.
