Former Detroit Mayor And Notorious Grifter Kwame Kilpatrick Blames The Feds For Now Being A Tax Deadbeat
Former Detroit Mayor and notorious grifter Kwame Kilpatrick is heading toward tax foreclosure on his posh suburban Detroit home. The convicted former mayor blamed the feds. He alleges that the DOJ freezing his family’s bank accounts for six months and seizing money for his restitution has resulted in the Oakland County Treasurer’s Office threatening to foreclose on his $1.1 million Novi home for unpaid taxes.

Kilpatrick also claimed the feds froze his accounts from December 2025 until early this past June.
Oakland County Treasurer Robert Wittenberg’s office told The Detroit News that they and Kilpatrick’s homeowners association gave notice that he could lose his home through forfeiture if back taxes aren’t paid. The home is owned by Pathfinder Consulting Firm LLC, a corporation that lists Kilpatrick’s wife, LaTicia Kilpatrick, as the resident agent.
Oakland County tax records show that his property taxes have been delinquent for two years. If the taxes are not paid by March 2027, the county will initiate a tax foreclosure on the home.

Records show Kwame Kilpatrick has only paid $5,000 of the $22,703.05 he owes for 2024 property taxes. He also owes $24,922.18 for 2025. However, his 2026 taxes are not yet due. There are also $2,916 in delinquent assessments owed to the Southwyck of Novi Homeowners Association.
In other words, notorious grifter Kwame Kilpatrick claims that he fell behind because of federal government are all bullshit. The real reason Kilpatrick fell behind is he’s living beyond his means. Let’s be real. Except for a few African-American groups in Detroit, no one wants to hear his self-aggrandizing whining.

The motivational speeches are really Kilpatrick ranting and crying about he was set up by the feds. He also spends 30 minutes talking about how he did nothing wrong as mayor.
So basically, it’s people paying to hear Kilpatrick’s self-aggrandizing bullshit about what a great mayor he was.
Notorious Grifter Kwame Kilpatrick Disputes His Restitution To The People Of Detroit
Earlier this year, Kilpatrick agreed to pay $823,649.09 to the US Attorney’s Office over time for his 2013 public corruption conviction. At the the time was sentenced to 28 years in prison. In January 2021, State Representative Karen Whitsett used her influence with the White House have President Donald Trump commute his prison sentence to time served.
Notorious grifter Kwame Kilpatrick also claims President Trump promised him a full pardon if he stumped for him in 2024.
Kilpatrick still insists the restitution figure is wrong.
Notorious grifter Kwame Kilpatrick claims the feds arbitrarily changed the outstanding balance owed for restitution from $164,000 to more than $800,000. There has been no explanation for this change whatsoever. Also, he alleges there was no notice given to him and that he found out about the change in the media. However, this isn’t entirely true. Kilpatrick agreed to the $800,000 figutre last year.
He claims the feds froze both his bank accounts and his wife’s bank accounts for six months. However, the feds allege LaTicia Kilpatrick operates Pathfinder Consulting Firm LLC as a nominee holding asset and financial accounts for her husband rather than engaging in active commercial consulting.
Despite his disagreement over the amount, Kilpatrick claims he has been paying $560 per month toward the restitution since April.
