It’s Official! Rudy Giuliani Is Officially Disbarred. New York Supreme Court Says He Can No Longer Practice Law In New York
The New York state Supreme Court made it official on Tuesday. Rudy Giuliani is officially disbarred. The NYS Bar is not pleased with Giuliani’s involvement in Donald Trump’s election interference efforts in 2020.
The long-expected disbarment is effective immediately. Giuliani faced major fallout for spreading lies about the 2020 election. Giuliani is also currently in bankruptcy after landing $150 million in debt for defaming two election workers. Her also faces several other lawsuits filed against him as well as criminal charges.
The Court stated that Giuliani deliberately violated some of the most fundamental tenets of the legal profession. They also accused him of also actively contributed to the national strife that has followed the 2020 Presidential election.
The NYS Court previously suspended Giuliani while they considered discipline proceedings against him. In its ruling, the court cited the former Trump attorney’s efforts to overturn the election results in several 2020 battleground states.
Giuliani Not Surprised By The Ruling
The ruling came as no surprise to Giuliani. He then blasted what he said was a corrupt system. A spokesman for Giuliani’s spokesman also condemned the disbarment.
Giuliani played a key role in several of Trump’s schemes to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Georgia prosecutors say Giuliani was involved in efforts to falsely certify Trump victories in several states. The court noted Tuesday that Giuliani lied to the public by claiming people were brought from New Jersey to vote illegally in Pennsylvania during the 2020 presidential election.
Georgia authorities have charged Giuliani with a RICO violations as well as several additional felonies. These include soliciting Georgia state lawmakers and making false statements to the Georgia Legislature. In addition, he attempted to put forward fake electors in the state. He is one of several co-conspirators indicted in that case in which Trump also is a defendant.
