Ukrainian Scammer Claims Trump Could Have Stopped Him

Ukrainian Scammer Tells Las Vegas Investigators That Donald Trump Could Have Stopped Him Sooner

Ukrainian ScammerA Ukrainian scammer allegedly told Las Vegas investigators that Donald Trump could’ve stopped his fraud scheme.

A Las  Vegas judge sentenced Ukrainian scammer Vladimir Pavlov to 30 to 75 months in prison. Prosecutors say Pavlov ran a massive crime ring that targeted elderly Americans in a Nevada.

CBS affiliate KLAS reported that during his hearing, prosecutors referenced a remark he made to police. Police asked Pavlov how the fraud scam could be prevented. He stated:

“I know how to stop this. Have Donald Trump on one of his teleconferences warn all the babushkas.”

Babushka is Russian for grandmothers.

Authorities accuse Pavlov of participating in an international criminal organization focused on scamming the elderly.

Chief Deputy DA Austin Beaumont also told the court that Pavlov was a ‘courier’ for an international crime ring. The crime ring allegedly has over a thousand members.

Pavlov was born in Ukraine but spoke multiple languages. Authorities say he communicated about the scheme via WhatsApp in Russian.

The elderly were on the receiving end of the fraud. One victim testified in court that she received a phone call from the scammers. They informed her that her Social Security number was compromised.

She said the scammers defrauded her out of $63,000.She also stated she almost handed over an additional $50,000.

Beaumont alleged that Pavlov and his conspirators terrified their victims. This was done so they wouldn’t tell family members about the scam.

However, Pavlov’s attorneys argued that he wasn’t aware of the crimes he was participating in. He also stated that the conversations he had with investigators were incorrectly translated.

Pavlov accepted an Alford plea. An Alford plea means didn’t admit guilt. However, he acknowledged that prosecutors had enough evidence for a conviction.
