Posh Detroit Suburb Erects Berlin Wall Style Barricade At Detroit Border To Keep Ot Black People
“All this has happened before, and all this will happen again” – J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan
Back in February, the posh Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe Park erected a Game of Thrones inspired snow wall to deter black people from Detroit from entering their posh upscale suburb.
The snow has now melted and the City of Grosse Pointe Park has devised a new plan of blockading 4 streets that lead into the city from Detroit that is reminiscent of the the cold war era Berlin Wall in are claiming its because they plan on putting in a farmers market in the middle of the intersection. Yes, a farmers market just like Grosse Pointe Woods does a few miles down the road and twenty other communities do in metropolitan Detroit.
According to the independent news website, Motor City Muckraker,
“A main road from Detroit to Grosse Pointe Park has been closed as crews begin converting a section of Kercheval Avenue into a farmers market that will cut off the historic east-west route in what some critics charge is yet another attempt to keep out Detroiters from the suburban community.
It is the fourth such barrier that Grosse Pointe Park has erected that prevents Detroit traffic from entering the predominately white community. That same location was blocked for months late last year because of what Park officials said were sewer line problems. And this winter, Kercheval at Alter was also blocked off by massive snow piles.
The barricades set up by the City of Grosse Pointe Park are a reminder of the Birwood Wall constructed in Detroit in the 1940s to keep blacks out of certain neighborhoods of Detroit.
